Never too old……

Is it really time to go back to school already?  Didn’t summer just began?  I sure love the summer months but aaaahhh there is something wonderful about a new school year.  Is it the new school clothes, seeing friends again, the crisp clean air and the fall colors, or the feel of a new  book? Do you remember the days before “kindle” when we actually had individual books and not virtual books?  Ones that we would make book covers for with paper grocery bags?  Now that was “old school”, as they say.  It is true, I so enjoyed school and the excitement of learning.  I would go back to school in a heartbeat.  Would you?  We’re never to old to learn.  Take for instance, the 79 year old man who set a world record for the most free throws on a basketball court.  According to Melvin Newland in his article, NEVER TOO OLD TO STRETCH, one day this 79 year old decided that he didn’t have anything better to do, so he started practicing.  Without missing, he made 2,550 consecutive free throws, setting the record for anyone his age.  While I have no desire to master basketball , I would love to master the game of golf.  Additionally, I would like to finish my Masters degree, get a Pastoral degree, write a book, take up pottery –the list goes on and on.  So much I want to accomplish and learn.  Even as I get older, I want  to continue growing and learning.  I don’t want to miss anything in life—I want to constantly seek and find new adventures.  So how about you?  Are you finding life’s adventures?  Consider taking a class and learning something completely different just for fun!  Take up a new sport, learn to dance or find a book of interest and not only read it…… but  make a paper grocery bag book cover for it just for good old times sake.
