Black Friday, three a.m. shopping. Cyber Monday, computer hopping. The need for speed to get there quick- this holiday season is making me sick! Is this why Charlie Brown looks so perplexed? The commercialism of Christmas seems out of hand– gotta get presents and more presents– that’s the plan. How did Christmas move from the manger to a market? This season, I am focusing my Christmas on the Christmas story. Why not plan to make presents that have intrinsic value. Be creative and give something from the heart rather than the mall. Make some Christmas fudge and visit a neighbor just because. Serve the needy, smile while waiting in the grocery store line….. the list goes on and on. I might even get a Charlie Brown tree this year to remind me of what is truly important. We could experience so much joy if we would just slow down! Enjoy the season, embrace the moment but most of all be in the present. We tend to run so fast and look so far ahead, that we miss the blessings that are taking place right in front of us. Even Charlie Brown found the true meaning of Christmas! After all, Christmas is about gifts ~ the greatest gift of all!

Wishing you blessings this Christmas and every day.
