So what are you hoping will be in your stocking this year? An iPod perhaps or a new cell phone, a laptop…. video games? Does your wish lists go on and on? Christmas seems to have lost it’s true meaning, hasn’t it? Let’s face it, we celebrate a holiday that is now based on consumer spending and projected sales from “black Friday” through Christmas Eve. Now the buzz is about the new meaning of Christmas. Wouldn’t it be refreshing to have a stocking filled with purpose? How about the story of Christmas being read before presents are opened, or a family time of reflection and prayer? Could we do without a few gifts from around the tree and give something to someone really in need? Let’s not forget the real meaning of Christmas– what better legacy could we pass on to our children? The magic is not in what is being given but what has already been given.
